SpaceX has removed Ship 42’s Raptor engines ahead of Starship Flight 15—but what does that mean for the next launch and a possible ship catch? Meanwhile, Ship 40 has arrived at the Port of Brownsville after a recovery journey spanning more than 12,000 nautical miles.
In this week’s Starship Update, we cover Flight 15 preparations, Raptor testing at McGregor, and work on the launch towers and pads at Starbase. We also head to Florida, where SpaceX is preparing LC-39A for Starship hardware and a future launch from the Space Coast.
In this episode:
• Ship 42’s engine removal and the questions surrounding Flight 15
• Booster 23, Booster 24, and the next ships taking shape
• Pad 2 chopstick maintenance and Pad 1 flame trench construction
• Long-duration Raptor firings and relight testing at McGregor
• LC-39A deluge and quick-disconnect testing
• Potential hardware pairings for Starship’s first Florida launch
• Ship 40’s return and what SpaceX could learn from the recovered vehicle
Will Flight 15 attempt to catch the booster, the ship, both, or neither? Share your prediction in the comments.
