Watch as SpaceX launches the Falcon Heavy NROL-97 mission for the National Reconnaissance Office from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Payload:
The NROL-97 mission carries a classified national security payload for the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office and the U.S. Space Force. Due to the classified nature of the mission, official webcast coverage will conclude shortly after payload fairing deployment to protect orbital insertion parameters.
Following stage separation, the two Falcon Heavy side boosters will return to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station for synchronized solid-ground touchdowns at Landing Zones 1 and 2 (LZ-1 and LZ-2). Both side boosters are flight-proven, having previously supported missions including GOES-U and Viasat-3 F3. The rocket's center core will be expended in the Atlantic Ocean to maximize performance for the heavy payload.
Mission Highlights:
Payload: Classified NRO payload (NROL-97)
Launch Site: Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A), Kennedy Space Center, Florida
Recovery Operations: Synchronized side booster landings at LZ-1 and LZ-2; center core expended
